Allergy Policy
Information Collection and Sharing
ACT is dedicated to providing a safe space for all participants. As part of the registration process, families are required to provide detailed information about any food allergies, environmental allergies, or dietary restrictions their child may have. This information will be shared with relevant staff members to ensure awareness and appropriate precautions. Students with airborne allergies that require special environmental adjustments or accommodations must have a family representative meet with theater staff at least one week prior to the program start date. This advance notice allows us to discuss necessary precautions and develop an appropriate plan for the student’s safety.
Food Responsibility and Limitations
Our theater programs do allow food on the premises, including, but not limited to:
- Snacks and meals during regular programming
- Food backstage during performances and rehearsals
- Fundraising activities (ex bake sales)
- Celebratory events (ex cast parties)
Participants with serious food allergies or those requiring special dietary considerations must have all appropriate food items provided by their family. This ensures the safety and dietary needs of the student are met according to their specific requirements and family preferences.
Important Notice: The theater cannot be responsible for providing, preparing, or verifying the allergen content of any food items that participants may have access to during our programs. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Snacks provided by other families
- Items sold during fundraising events
- Catered meals or refreshments
- Food brought by staff or volunteers
Emergency Procedures
Families of students with severe allergies should ensure that:
- All necessary medications (such as EpiPens) are provided and properly labeled
- Emergency contact information is current and accessible
- Staff are informed of emergency protocols specific to their child’s needs
