Auditions

By |May 31st, 2024|

What a wonderful week of Auditions. Thank you to all who helped make it such a success. Our creative team is working hard to put together a cast list for what we know will be a spectacular show!

Volunteer Information

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to actor call time. These individuals work primarily in the green room during performances to keep the show running smoothly and safely. You’ll start by assisting with costumes/securing  hats and getting actors to organize their belongings in the green room so they don’t clog up the hallway. During the performance your primary role becomes managing traffic in and out of the green room to the stage. You’ll do this by keeping an eye and ear on the TV monitor and the scene/song list provided and secured to a music stand on each side of the hallway (actors will be doing this too). There is absolutely no touching/tampering with any property or AV equipment (watch out for this, though actors have been advised already). Keep an eye out for snack/water spills and coach actors to be mindful of cleaning up after themselves.

These individuals are part of a team ensuring costumes or outfits are ready in time for fittings and performances. You will assist pulling costumes/props from our TBC location. You may also be asked to help organize/facilitate fittings. You may also be called upon to move costumes between locations before and after production and may assist with cleaning, repairs, and returns to the costume closet.

This is a job for our crafty individuals.  If you’re handy with a sewing machine or hot glue gun you will help with creating or altering existing props and costumes to help bring our show to life.

These individuals are part of a team creating/organizing/sourcing the set pieces used for the production. In this role, you’ll adapt/paint set pieces, build set pieces, and/or source new set pieces. You may also be called upon to find/move set pieces between locations before and after production.

Please arrive one hour prior to curtain. Videographer needed to capture our performances. Must own your own equipment.

Coordinate with staff to attend one or more rehearsals in order to take headshots of our ACTors.

This position is responsible for editing student bio responses and formatting photos to fit print specifications. You should coordinate with the party who is arranging printing.

This position is responsible for coordinating and printing final student bios.

This position is responsible for hanging bio display.

Attend dress rehearsal and capture our ACTors in their element.

Please arrive 15 minutes before actor call times. These individuals work primarily with a production staff member during performances to be sure that set pieces make it on and off the stage smoothly and safely. You’ll start by getting a sense for where the set pieces land from production staff before the show begins and a sense for the inventory of props organized on the props table. During the performance your primary role becomes moving set pieces on and off stage or keeping and/or keeping inventory of all props when not being used on stage. *Keep in mind, actors are responsible for moving some of the set pieces themselves and have a sense for those responsibilities already. You’ll wear black clothing, if at all possible.

These individuals will help the cast party run smoothly. You will help with the set-up of the cast party area. You may be asked to help pass out pizza/cake. You may also be needed in reminding students to clean up after themselves.

Please arrive one hour prior to curtain. We need several volunteers to help with front of house duties.  When you arrive a Parent Producer or Production manager will assign you to help with the sale of tickets, trinkets or bake sale items before the show, at intermission and for a short time immediately after the show. During the performance you will be responsible for the cash boxes. In larger shows you may also be asked to assist as an usher.

Do you like to bake? Bring some cookies, brownies or other goodies to help fill up our concession table. Would you rather give our organizer $20 to go to Costco so you don’t have to bake? That works too.

All hands on deck! We need volunteers to help load in set pieces the week of the show. This may include transporting scenery from our storage unit or from our other location on Mass Ave.

Volunteers are needed to

  • Take the set apart
  • Transport set pieces back to the storage unit or TBC (Mass ave)
  • Drop off costumes to be laundered
  • Pack up left over concessions
  • Ensure that the space is left CLEAN

Frequently Asked Questions

Monday rehearsals are at 14 Mill Street and you may park on Mill Brook Drive.

All other rehearsals are at 735 Mass Ave. Please drop your ACTors off on Mass Ave and they can enter on the right side of the building; do not use the Bacon Street entrance to be respectful of the nearby residents.

Tickets go on sale 3-4 weeks prior to the performance.

ACT has closed rehearsals. This means that only performers and staff members are permitted to stay. While staying in the room may make your child feel more comfortable, please consider that your presence may make students who are unfamiliar with you uncomfortable.

Show Posters come in a week or two before the performance. ACTors are encouraged to hang them around town to promote the show!  Posters will also be available for purchase at the shows for $10.
